My fiancé and I had the best experience with Robyn at El Barrio! Amazing service, and the food was excellent. Portions are huge, definitely had lots of left overs! This will hands down be our New Mexican spot!

One star for awesome margaritas and the rice+beans, although the rice was on the mushier side but still had a good flavor.
We both ordered the carne asada with the ranchero beans.
Our food comes out, the meat looked like it could've been charred more, it had a few grill marks but other than that it looked gray. Whatever, looks aren't everything right? I take a bite of carne and tasted like old lunch meat. At the same time my husband is taking his first bite and just spits it out, he says This meat is off. Being stubborn and an optimist, I cut a small piece from a different spot of my carne and taste it to be sure.
Nope. Meat's going bad.
Server comes back and we let her know. She seemed concerned but just asked What did it taste like?
My husband assertively told her "Like rotten meat"
She did offer to bring us something different which we declined, and she took the items off our bill which is nice but we were grossed out and disappointed since this was our first (and only) time eating there. I'd blame it on a one time mistake but read other reviews of people complaining about funky tasting meat... -

The food here is amazing and their drinks are even better. I had the El Barrio margarita and it had a delicious slush on top. I had the steak fajitas for dinner and that was also great.
However, the service is what gets this place 3 stars. The first time I was there the server was great. The second time I TRIED to go it was past their opening time and we tried to get in but they were closed. We asked how much longer and they said 30 minutes so we sat on the patio and waited. 30 minutes go by and we call from outside and they said it would be another 30 so we left. Big waste of time and I felt silly because I strongly suggested this place. I'd go back for the food but be hesitant about when you show up. -

I can't review El Barrio because we sat around for 15 minutes without service and left.

Based on price alone, I can't recommend this place. We walked in and asked about happy hour. We were told it was ending or starting in 20 minutes, we never got clarification but decided to try it anyways. There was also no mention of happy hour on any table or in the menu. We had margaritas. They cost $13 for a basic one. We also shared the queso dip which was good. However at looking at the menu later it did not come with chorizo or mushrooms like the menu promised, just cheese. Not worth $10. My mom and I had tacos. I had the carne tacos. They were tasty, it came with three tacos and rice and beans. However, our bill for two margaritas, two orders of tacos and cheese dip came to $80. A ridiculous amount for two people. If they had a happy hour I would probably be back again, otherwise I won't be returning due to price alone.
